Biography

From her studio in Farnham Laura Rose Kimber creates embroidered collages. Using her personally developed technique, Laura captures stitched moments in time. 

Having studied at both Goldsmiths College and Winchester School of Art, Laura grew her diverse understanding of textiles and developed her unique style of embroidery, using a needle as her pencil and felt as her canvas. 

Laura Rose draws inspiration from her experiences and her fascination with the flow of life. Her embroidered collages are built upon meticulous observation - in the streets, the parks and the squares of London, inspiring nostalgia in the viewer. A momentary scene is recorded and her figures become characters, allowing the viewer to project their own emotions and memories onto the work.  Her palette is colourful and thoughtful and individual detail creates a composition that is both charming and playful.
